Kicking off fest season with a bang again this year is the annual Do-Division Street Fest & Sidewalk Sale, Saturday, June 4th through Sunday, June 5th. This signature Chicago street fest pits great shopping, live music and family entertainment together under the summer sun! Spanning an incredible 10-city blocks on Division from Ashland to Leavitt, the bash features the Family Fun Fest as well as the best food, music and crafts from the surrounding ‘hood. Programmed by Chicago’s own Empty Bottle Presents and Subterranean/House Call Entertainment, the talent lineup this year features original, live entertainment of the highest quality!

The Sidewalk Sale

Division Street between Ashland and Leavitt is packed with trendy salons, spas, cafes, bakeries and boutiques in addition to droves of popular restaurants that can satisfy any craving. Many of these merchants participate in the elaborate sidewalk sale that spans the full length of the fest – offering great deals on everything from designer duds to tasty dishes.

The Family Fun Fest

DO DIVISION FAMILY FUN FEST – BEE THERE! JUNE 4-5 from noon to 6pm

Pony rides, face painting, rocking kids' music

This year the Family Fun Fest has expanded to two blocks on Hoyne between Division and Potomac. New this year, come and learn about bees. We'll have fun bee facts throughout the event and a Urban Bee Hive tent where you learn about bees. Plus answer questions in a quiz about bees and win a prize from Building Blocks. (Hint: you'll find the answers on our activity tents.) Also new is the Cat n Mouse Game Store's Game tent including a yo-yo demonstration on Saturday. And the Building Blocks famous Carnival Wheel with fabulous prizes.

We're bringing back many of the popular activities including The Easel Art Studio Craft Tent, punk rock hair styling by Psycho Baby with nail polishes by Juko nails (nails Saturday only), face painting, cookie decorating, a dunk tank, the Children's Learning Place Toddler Zone (with a changing station and nursing zone), a bounce house, and pony rides (both Saturday and Sunday). Plus non-stop entertainment on the family stage and super fun exhibitors.

Proceeds from Do Division Family Fun Fest go to Friends of Pritzker School and the LaSalle II PTO, public elementary schools in Wicker Park.

The Fine Print

There will be a $5 donation requested for admittance to Do-Division that will benefit local non-profits: the West Town Chamber of Commerce, Division Street Committee, and three local elementary schools: A.N. Pritzker, LaSalle Magnet II, and De Diego. Hours of operation both days are noon to 10 pm (and the Family Fun Fest is open from noon to 6 pm both days). For more info, call 312-850-9390.

The Empty Bottle Procedure:

1. Send them a demo of your music (CD or tape is preferred, but send platter if that is all you have) Your package should contain pertinent information about your band - contact name/number, where you have played, and whatever else you think they should know.

2. Mail your package to:

3. You can also drop off your package at the bar during the hours of 3pm - 2am.

4. Give them two to three weeks to listen to it. They get up to fifty CDs/tapes a week, and they do listen to them all, but it takes time. When calling to check on your submission, please remember to be patient. We try to get to everyone, but we get tons of demos, and even more phone calls.
